It's about a four hour ride round trip from Honor in Benzie County to the farthest point on Northwest Michigans Snowmobile trail system, Maple City!

Conditions were excellent and everything was just great as we were zipping along this beautiful trail. We were all alone out there and we were enjoying it immensely.

Then came the wake up call, that dreaded moment when you realize.... there is a PROBLEM!

Next thing you know, he is working on the "vintage"

As I was getting the tow rope ready, I was thinking to myself, this is the last time I'm taking a long trip on the "vintage

Lucky we had two spare belts, one in each sled. It seemed to be a fairly easy fix and I did not have to listen to him cursing that old

We made the decision to keep going until we reached our Northwest Michigan snowmobiling destination. It could have ended badly, but we made it to Maple City on our vintage sleds that day!

The moral of the story: Always be prepared! Before you hit the trails, tell someone where you are headed, ALWAYS carry a spare snowmobile belt, some basic tools, drinking water, extra sparkplugs, a tow strap and a cell phone.
We made it back to the Motel with both sleds still running that night. We were tired and felt as if we had conquered some sort of a Snowmobiling challenge.
